First, choose the right mermaid tail based on the largest pants size you currently wear. Waist size takes precedence over pants length. The tail should not sag during mermaid swimming. The material is highly elastic, so there is considerable stretch in the length. The tail is uniform below the knee but varies in length and hip width.
Consult our size chart.
Mermaid Tails for Children
Children’s tails differ in both length and hip width. When moving up a size, the tail increases by 5 cm in length and 3 cm in width.
Mermaid Tails for Teens and Adults
Tails for teens and adults all have the same length. The difference lies only in the hip width. It increases by a few centimeters with each size up.
When selecting the right tail, follow the pants size you are currently wearing. Waist size takes precedence over the length of your pants.
When browsing the internet, you may notice a wide range of prices for mermaid tails. You might wonder what the differences are between all these tails, especially since the cheaper ones often look the same as the tails from Mermaid Party in the pictures. Here are three important factors to consider:
- Is the mermaid tail offered with or without a monofin?
To swim like a mermaid, you always need two things: a mermaid tail and a monofin in which both feet make a flipper movement. Usually, these are offered together for one price. However, some sellers attract your attention with a low price, but often the monofin is not included. If you need to purchase the monofin separately, it often ends up being more expensive than buying the complete set.
2. What is the quality of the mermaid tail?
For the tail, the thickness of the "swimsuit fabric" and the strength of the seam are crucial. These factors determine how long the tail can be used. You don't want the seam to come undone after just a few swims. Cheap tails priced at €30-40 are made from very thin fabric that can easily get a hole when touched by a stone.
Applying a protective glossy layer helps prevent holes from forming quickly. The two points of the tail experience a lot of pressure during swimming. We protect these vulnerable spots with plastic covers, also known as "tail tips." Cheap tails do not have tail tips.
The quality of the monofin also varies significantly. Many children complain that the monofin slips off during swimming. How well are the feet secured in the monofin? We use monofins with foot pockets. Each foot has its own pocket, and the entire foot is surrounded by neoprene, preventing it from slipping out.
3. How sturdy is the plastic plate?
The sturdier it is, the better it transfers the power of your movement to the water, allowing you to swim faster.
Check out our detailed video where we explain more about the quality of our products.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to try on the tails in person. We operate from a logistics center where fittings are not available. However, we're happy to help you choose the right size—just email or call us for advice.
If the size isn’t quite right, returning the tail is simple and free. You can also opt to order two sizes and return the one that doesn’t fit. The choice is yours!
- Slide the Monofin In: Insert the black monofin with the heel into the opening of the mermaid tail.
- Position the Monofin: Place the monofin vertically on a table.
- Bend the Monofin: Press down on the monofin to bend it. It is designed to be flexible and will not break.
- Pull the Tail Over: While bending the monofin, pull the plastic cap at the tip of the mermaid tail. Stretch the tip of the tail over the tip of the monofin.
- Secure the Other End: Turn the tail and pull the second tip of the tail over the other end of the monofin.
- Keep the Monofin in Place: We recommend keeping the monofin in the tail to prevent stretching.
- Prepare to Enter: Sit at the edge of the pool.
- Insert the Monofin: Slide the black monofin from underneath into the opening of the mermaid tail. Gently pull the tip of the tail over the tip of the monofin, and then do the same for the other tip.
- Position the Tail: Pull the top of the mermaid tail up over the two foot openings of the monofin.
- Wet the Tail and Monofin: Make both the monofin and your feet wet in the pool to help your feet slide in more easily.
- Put On the Tail: Slide your feet into the monofin. The first time putting it on, especially for shoe size 37, can be tricky. The fin will adjust to your foot over time. It’s also better if each child uses their own fin.
- Pull Up the Tail: Pull the tail up to your knees, then enter the water and pull the tail up to your waist.
- Removing the Tail: It’s best to remove the tail in shallow water to avoid scraping it against stones outside the pool. This will help keep the mermaid tail in good condition.
